By Dan Sorenson, Arizona Daily Star

A Tucson woman is the county’s first confirmed human case of West Nile infection for 2008.

The first confirmed West Nile virus victim of the year was admitted to an area hospital with West Nile symptoms including headache, fever, neck pain, tremors, muscle weakness, pain, extreme fatigue and confusion, according to a statement from the Pima County Health Department statement issued early this afternoon. She has been discharged, according to the health department statement. The case was reported to the Health Department Monday afternoon.

A mosquito from a local Health Department-monitored trap has also tested positive, as did a pool on the far Northwest Side.
